Hindsight's 20/20
LIGHTWORKER’S WAY
Column 71 (Sept. 2016)
“Intuition makes sense after you follow it, not before. You don’t get to know the beauty unless you take the risk.” ~ McCall Erickson.com
Happy Autumn, my beautiful lightworker friends! I hope everyone enjoyed their summer and were somehow enhanced and inspired by it, no matter what it entailed. When looking back on the last few months, if you had to come up with a phrase or title for your summer, what would it be? What would the lightworker purpose and/or lesson of the summer of 2016 be for you? For me, I would have to say mine would be “Life-altering Transition”, with the first part of it dealing with the last days of my father’s life, the highlight or peak right in the middle of the summer with his passing, and the rest of the summer days experiencing the outcome, my soul shifted and my vibe heightened. I faced a huge fear and reconnected with someone I’ve been needing to. My unique and incredible path is now guided as well by Dad, along with my other very active and magnificent guides. In partnership and in subsequence, I did quite a bit of writing. My guides are so pleased with me.
And now here we are in Autumn already once again, my favourite season. Autumn brings new beginnings for me. I believe it goes back to my school days. I’m sure many can relate. We spent so many Septembers starting a new school year, a new grade, new teachers, sometimes making new friends. It makes sense that the feeling of “new beginnings” is engrained into us when the shift of cooler weather creeps in, like a trigger.
New beginnings can look different to each of us, inspired and played out in a multitude of diverse fashions.
I take great pride when I share with people a phrase that describes my way of living, of being, “I operate on intuition”. I once heard this in a movie and it resonated greatly. This to me is magical as I find there are many potential new beginnings and opportunities out there for us that we don’t even know are waiting for us as long as we are making decisions based on our logical minds and what we feel others expect from us.
Easier said than done, don’t you agree?
This requires us to pay attention, notice the inner and outer signs and messages, and finally to trust our intuition.
However intuitive thoughts, feelings and images most often don’t come with details. There is no explanation attached to whatever comes. And furthermore, what comes to us intuitively frequently doesn’t make sense. There is not a straight line of sight to where the universe, our higher selves and our guides are taking us. They are even known to go against logical thought and what we know as common sense.
Therein lies the test.
Operating intuitively to live a purposeful and magical life requires a continuance of leaps of faith. Sounds scary? I think it’s meant to be. And lo and behold, the universe says, “You want a purposeful and magical life? Your wish is my command! And now, it’s time to face your fears.”
To many, taking a leap of faith can be like having the courage to take the risk and move through a scary and dark doorway. You don’t know what’s on the other side. And you are not meant to.
Hindsight’s 20/20
Defined as a perfect understanding of events only after they have happened, a phrase first coined by Billy Wilder many moons ago, I’ve come to realize this term hindsight is 20/20 is quite essential to the lightworker experience. As my opening quote states, we can only make sense of our intuitive nudges after the occurrence. In our world, we have to learn how to let go of all possible control and have faith in what is.
Obstacles
If you need to feel in control, if you need the guarantee before you make a move, if you are afraid of taking risk, if you live your life avoiding the “making of mistakes” or of “falling and failing”, it will be extremely difficult to follow an intuitive path. In the end, your true path and purpose will be hidden. Notice I put quotes around the above terms. This is because they are not terms I would necessarily use. I see these words only as a perception. I don’t believe in mistakes, falling or failing. I see those choices and experiences as learning opportunities and therefore, necessary. So I am merely quoting others. They are not my words here, as the author of this article. Given that, these perceptions of mistakes, falling and failing are very real for many and add to each lightworker’s journey so I am not disregarding or minimizing them.
A Matter of Timing
The universe is a wild and mysterious creature we are enmeshed and intertwined with. There seems to be an overall agenda and as lightworkers, in these days our roles are crucial to its goals. We are being called upon to enact our chosen purpose and fulfill our promise (a promise we seemed to have made as souls prior to birth) to lead the world into this shift of consciousness. There is a balance. And there are timelines. To me, in these last few years, it almost feels like our sense of free will is being squeezed. We do still have the freedom of choice but if we make a choice that goes against the universal plan, the consequences seem to be getting heavier. For example, for me, I kept getting distracted from my main purpose – to writing this novel series. And so, I had my distractions taken from me. There are expectations upon us. I feel it’s important that we learn to trust in this timing. We have our own free will but it needs to work in partnership with the universal timing. Our intuition will guide us to stay aligned. There are many times – like deadlines – when we have to make bold moves but aren’t supposed to find out why until the right time. I have been made aware of several occurrences on my path in the last 7 years. Sometimes these occurrences of timing can seem magical. For example, I lived in a house that had 2 locks on the basement door, one being a chain lock. Yet it wasn’t until 6 years after the day I moved in that I was allowed to see this in a peculiar way and question “why?” We can see things without actually noticing the significance or oddness until we are meant to. This perception of hindsight being 20/20 fits in with this mysterious universal alignment. If we see the details of our intuition, we may change the course of events that our meant to arise in their perfect timing.
In the end, my magical lightworker friends, we will all know this universal agenda. But for now, we are to follow in faith, rising to our intuitive callings and be the magnificent souls we have chosen to be! In the right time, we will know all…. in hindsight.
